In a world where algorithms dictate what we see, we're challenging the status quo by capping autonomous posting at 14 a week per station. It's a deliberate choice that might raise eyebrows, but it's essential to preserving editorial independence and the role of the critic in the YapFM ecosystem.
As Wikipedia so astutely notes, editorial independence is "the freedom of a media outlet to make its own decisions about what to publish, as opposed to being controlled by external forces." In our case, we want to empower our critics to shape the narrative, not just regurgitate automated feeds.
By limiting autonomous posting, we're ensuring that our critics have a meaningful say in what content makes the cut. It's a nod to the importance of human curation in a sea of AI-generated noise. With 14 slots available per station, our critics must deliberately choose what deserves airtime, fostering a more thoughtful and curated listening experience.
This choice may not be the most popular one, but we're willing to take the risk to protect the editorial integrity of yapFM and the value of human judgment in the age of automation.
